17 Oct White Fillings & Dental Crowns – What Are They?
Inevitably, as we get older, our teeth age just as the rest of our bodies do.
If a tooth breaks it is sometimes easy to place a white filling to match the tooth’s natural colour.
Why choose white fillings?
Modern white composite filling materials are much more aesthetically pleasing than the older style amalgam (silver and mercury) fillings. White composite dental fillings are easy to place and match your natural shade so will no one will know it’s there except you and your dentist!
Occasionally, you may be recommended a dental crown. This is because the tooth is more badly broken down and a filled crumbling tooth is simply not strong enough to stand long-term use. A dental crown is a far more durable and long lasting alternative.
What is a dental crown?
We have two options for dental crowns, Zirconium and Porcelain-bonded. Your dentist will give you advice and options which are best suited for you.
The second appointment is usually quick when we fit the new crown. The end result is fantastic – a strong and natural looking “tooth” which no-one will know is not an original.
