04 Nov Mouth Cancer Foundation 10k Walk – Charity Challenge 2021
On Saturday 10th October, some of our team took up the 10K challenge in aid of The Mouth Cancer Foundation. To add a little fun to the event we decided to name our team (this is a National Event) the Tooth Fairies – and of course we needed no persuasion to dress the part. Even Kenny and David got into the swing and donned tutus plus fairy wings! We also had three girls join our team – the next generation of tooth fairies! Thanks must go to Sam’s daughter Gracie, Nikki’s daughter Millie and to little Harper – Hattie’s gorgeous toddler. They all completed the route with minimal complaints.
The idea of this challenge is to raise awareness of mouth cancer – and most importantly how to recognise signs and symptoms of this horrid disease…of course at Long Sutton Dentistry we carry out a cancer check as part of your routine examinations but not everyone sees a dentist or therapist regularly. We therefore handed out flyers explaining what to look for and how to self-examine. Details of this are below so please have a look below – it’s quick and easy to do!
Thanks to the generosity of patients, Practice Plan, dental technicians and the lovely folks of Long Sutton whom we met along our way, we managed to raise a staggering £983.75 including gift aid.
