Crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers can all be used when more significant changes are required to teeth, to repair and restore.
If we want to change the shape of a tooth or greatly improve its appearance then we may need to construct a crown, inlay, onlay or dental veneer. These types of restorations are made in conjunction with our very skilled dental technicians. A crown is required to replace the whole outer surface of the tooth and inlays and onlays are used when just part of the tooth is damaged or requiring repair.
Dental veneers are thin coverings of porcelain that are accurately constructed to fit over the front surface of usually the upper front teeth. They can be placed to help align teeth as well as greatly improve the aesthetics. This is a form on Minimal Intervention Dentistry as the majority of the tooth structure is retained under the restoration.
Wherever possible, we use metal free crowns such as Emax. However, as you would expect at Long Sutton Dentistry, we will offer you choices and explain the differences in crowns available so you can receive the right type of restoration for your particular situation.
