Dear Patients and Friends,
We are now over two months into lockdown and the whole team hopes you are keeping healthy and well and managing to stay in touch with your loved ones regularly. We are still here at Long Sutton Dentistry and missing you, our lovely patients, very much.
As you will know from our updates on social media, we are still being advised by our regulatory bodies to remain closed and await further guidance on when we might be able to re-open our doors. The team have been working hard over the past few weeks to ensure that the practice is as safe as it can be when we do open up again. We have been restlessly sourcing the personal protective equipment (PPE) that we feel will be needed in order to keep both you and our team safe when we resume oral health checks and dental treatment again. We have also been using our new-found free time to learn new skills and re-connect with our own community of dentists and their teams.
Do remember that we are continuing to post regularly across our social media channels (Instagram and Facebook) with oral and general health tips, advice on what to do if you have any issues with your mouth during this time, and team updates which have been helping to keep us connected and positive. Please do follow us!
Once again, we are missing seeing you every day and are looking forward to welcoming you back again very soon. The practice may need to operate slightly differently (and we may look slightly different in our PPE!) when we return, but we are the same team you have come to know at Long Sutton Dentistry.
We hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well during this uncertain time. We are sorry and frustrated that we are unable to continue your treatment during this period and thank you for your patience and understanding through this unprecedented time. We are in the process of integrating some remote assessment and video consultation software into our website so we can see you and help you more easily from a distance whilst restrictions are in place.
We don’t yet know when we will be able to book appointments again and are awaiting government guidance on this. Please be assured that as soon as we know, we will be in touch to re-book your appointment(s).
During this time, we will be regularly posting on our Facebook and Instagram pages to keep you updated and to offer some useful oral and general health tips to keep you going in lockdown. Please like our social media pages and feel free to share our posts with your family and friends. We will also be sharing some team updates so you know what the whole team are getting up to whilst they are staying at home and so you don’t forget what we look like!
We would also like to take this opportunity to say a massive “Thank You” to all of our patients and members of their families who are working within the NHS, are carers or keyworkers. It truly is amazing what you are doing and is very much appreciated by us all and keep sending in your rainbow pictures.

We sincerely hope that you are all safe and well at home and trying to remain positive and productive amidst the current uncertainty. We want to remind you that we are still here for you during this time and are available to speak to you via social media or telephone should you have a dental emergency. While we cannot see you at the practice, we can virtually triage you and offer advice on next steps.

Following advice from our governing bodies, we have closed the practice and are operating a telephone only advice service for our registered clients with a dental emergency in order to protect our clients and team so as to help reduce the transmission of the virus.
As soon as our governing bodies deem it is safe to do so, we will be resuming normal service.

Looking after the health of our patients is our absolute priority and if you urgently need assistance, please contact us on 01406 364600 to speak to Sam or follow the instructions on the recorded message. She will assess your problem and contact your dentist – who will call you back with their advice.
As a team, we are doing everything we possibly can to remain fit, well and able to work so that we can continue our usual high standard of dental care for you when we return. Please note that all routine appointments will be scheduled as soon as possible once we re-open and we will be extend opening times to accommodate these.

Our team have been working tirelessly to keep Long Sutton Dentistry a clean and safe environment for you.
As a Dental Practice, we work in an environment where the prevention of the spread of a whole range of infections is woven into everything we do. In addition to our usual scrupulous cross infection control measures, we have been paying particularly close attention to all government guidance and updates related more specifically to Coronavirus.
Given the unprecedented situation in the UK regarding the rapidly spreading COVID-19 virus, we feel we must use our own clinical judgement and act in the best interests of our patients and staff.
We feel it is essential that we do our part to reduce the spread of this virus, and so, it is with very heavy hearts, that we have taken to decision to temporarily close the practice. All being well, we will re-open on 1st May. We will of course keep you updated with the latest information on our website www.longsuttondental.co.uk and via our social media pages.

As a dental practice, we work in an environment where the prevention of the spread of a whole range of infections is woven into everything that we do. We continue to provide treatment with universal precaution to ensure each room is cleaned and sanitised before, during, and after a procedure, just like hospitals.
We are happy to answer any questions, at any time should you have concerns whether you are fit enough to come to the practice or whether you’re concerned for you own safety in attending. The majority of our patients are taking the decision to continue through their treatment if they are not in an at risk group and they are supported fully by us.
You can be rest assured that if we ever reach a situation where we think there is a risk for our patients then we will close for as long as is necessary and you have our guarantee on that.
To all of our patients, past, present and future, I wanted to put down a few words on what it’s going to be like coming to the practice in the next while, in the midst of the circumstances we find ourselves in relation to coronavirus (COVID -19).
Reactions to this situation are mixed from indifference to panic but we are well informed and are an extraordinary team who are working hard to continue providing healthcare of the best possible standard, in the best possible facility.
Our team of staff and the clinical side are not only experienced but hugely committed and of long standings.
We have a range of policies and procedures which have been instigated around current guidelines which we are happy to share with anyone who would like to see them.
In times of difficulty and times of trouble, it is essential to try to safely carry on and to try to form some kind of normality which allows us to get on with our lives and share the joy of helping people and being helped and working together.
